Sargodha City

Sargodha is the 11th Largest metropolitan city of Pakistan. The city is located in the northeast of Pakistan. The area, its screen is around 5854 square kilometers. According to the 2012 census, the population is approximately 600,000 people. The city is at a distance of 244 km from Islamabad, and 206 km from Lahore city. The city is well known for the production of citrus fruits, and is a prominent supplier of agricultural commodities to industrial sectors of other cities, locally and internationally. The climate of Sargodha is extremely hot in summer and freezing in winters. The national language is Urdu, whereas English is written and spoken officially. The other languages spoken by the locals includes; Majhi, Shapuri, Pothohari, Jhangvi, and Raangri

Strategically! The Pakistan central air command, is situated in Sargodha city. The city is well known by the name as; “The city of Shaheens - means the city of Hawks”. The Pakistan air force academy is situated in Sargodah, where pilots are trained for fighter tactics and weapons. The history of Sarhodha reveals that it was the agricultural area and the forests, during the Indus Valley civilization. The Sargodha was ruled by Maurya Empire, Indo-Greek kingdom, Kushan Empire, Gupta Empire, White Huns, Kushano-Hephthalites, Shahi kingdoms, Mughal Empire, Sikhs and by the Britishers. During British rule Sargodha gained the importance due to its geographical location, and British Royal Air Force constructed an airport there.

The economy of Sargodha city is based on the agricultural sector and live stocks. People are engaged in the cultivation of seasonal crops and fruits. The area is also rich in crops like; Oranges, guavas, wheat, rice, sugar cane. Other fruits include; Jammon, pears, dates, pomegranates, and phalsa are also grown is some small quantities. Some of these crops are also exported to other countries. The breeding programs for hybrid animals are supported by the government. People are more involved in the growing crops, and breeding or fattening of animals. The high quality of goats, cows, sheep and bulls for rearing and production of meat are exported to other countries also.

Other industrial markets include: beverages, manufacture of diesel engines, foundry products, glass products, leather footwear, oil mills, pesticides, insecticides, poultry feed, plastics, ready-made garments, tanning and textiles, Switches/Bacolite industry.

The city is also connected to other major cities via railway network.
